ParticipantTime does not exist…
Do I have your attention?
There are many ways to look at time. One of them is to say it is a measure of distance. Time measures how long it takes for something to get from point A to point B. However, being Jedi, we know that point A and B are connected. The Force is a part of A as much as B, and even the space between them. Therefore, if I move from point A to B, and the Force is both A and B, and the space between, then what has moved? Can we say that the Force moved from the Force, to the Force, through the Force? Or did it simply stay where it was?
The Force is both the beginning and the end. They are indistinguishable.
If nothing has moved, then time becomes meaningless. So you could say that time doesn’t exist. Or rather that it is simply a tool we use to experience life one moment at a time… and nothing more.

ParticipantIn my opinion, it does exist.
The Force going from the Force to the Force is the same as saying Time went from this time to that time.Time is always changing but it’s still time. The same as the force, it changes and bends itself to situation to show change, and time quite simply is change.

Keymasternot at all. time is just our brains way of coping with events. It processes things in a linear fashion, thus we create time. But, here are the inconsistencies.
1. Does the past exist? Your memory of something that happened previously exists, but does the past itself actually exist?
2. Does the future exist? Your hopes and imagination of the future exists, but the future itself?
3. What exists beyond right now? Can anything exist outside of the now?
I’ll answer…no. Nothing exists outside of the now. Therefore, if now is the only thing that exists, there is no such thing as time, because there is only this one time – now.Eckhart Tolle states this all much better in the Power of Now. I highly recommend it.

ParticipantI still say it exists. Because we’ve lived the past, we can see the effects that the past exists, the fact that we are no longer living in that area of present, proves that time has passed.
Saying that the only thing that’s now stops people from looking to the future to solve problems, from looking to the past to prevent themselves from making the same mistakes that already occured.I understand where you’re both coming from but I still say that the concept of time is still a reality.

KeymasterThe past itself doesn’t exist – only your memory of it. It’s a very important distinction to make. It’s impossible to exist outside of the now. Time is something we have created in this three dimensional world. Once you exit 3d space, it’s gone. You can actually test this in the astral. What feels like hours in the astral can be literally minutes here. It ends up as whatever you want it to be in the end. Time is not a universal concept.

ParticipantEach of you is right in a way. Time, in physics, does exist as a dimension, just like distance. Time is around for one reason only – to keep the Universe from getting very crowded. If everythng happened at the same time, there would be an overwhelming nubmer of events occuring all at once – much like if there was no distance, everything would be stuffed into a single point. So time is neccessary for proper workings of the world as we know it.
But that doesn’t mean time is linear or absolute – it is subject to changes and bends, just as any other dimension, and relative to the observer.

Participant*nods* Time is just perception- and like Decsuna said, it’s good that we have that perception, otherwise our little human brains would simply overload.
That isn’t to say time is meaningless- it exists in our perception and therefore has a big affect on our lives. Yes it’s relative, but our perception of time allows us to change and understand things.
All this talk of existance makes me think- what does to exist mean? Decartes said ‘Cogito Ergo sum’, I think therefore I am, but is that true of all things? Does the force think? Do plants ‘think’ the way decartes meant when he said his famous line?
What do you think?
Much love,

ParticipantIf you ask me the force is always moving. Through itself, around itself, inside and outside itself, just because it is everywhere doesn’t mean it doesn’t move. If it remained stagnant wouldn’t it become dirty and impure. Air is all around us and yet it moves. as for time. I think it is a tool for humans to process their thoughts. Animals can recall things from the past, but most of them live in the present. We need to learn to let go of the past and live in the present. You learn the most when you are in the present. The past is a good tool, yet it can betray you. Its much like Ceaser from the Dog Whisperer’s philosophy.

I think so. I think time is a tool and limit that God gave to us as He is outside of time. Had a prayer group once in which they were teaching that God can do miracles with time because of that and have had some really bizzarre experiences with time just kind of disappearing while I was doing something. Haven’t had that happen for a while. Or maybe I’m just not paying as much attention to it. I’m glad you brought it back to mind.

Participant~ Opens ‘The Power of Now’ that is sitting right next to me on this computer desk…
An excerpt from Page 50, Moving Deeply Into the Now; Nothing Exists outside of the Now:
Quote:“Have you ever experienced, done, thought, or felt anything outside the Now? Do you think you ever will? Is it possible for anything to happen or be outside the Now? The answer is obvious, is it not?Nothing ever happened in the past; it happened in the Now.
Nothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now.”
What are your thoughts on this passage? Do you agree or disagree, why? If there is no time but now, is there a you to disagree?
