The other day I picked this book up at our local book store. The more I read it, the more Jedi related it seems, so I thought I’d tell you guys about it. It’s called “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” and is authored by Joseph Murphy, Ph.D., D.D. I haven’t finished reading it, but he talks about the difference between our conscious and subconscious mind and why the power of thought works the way it does. Why prayer works the way it does. I keep thinking about the verbal battles you see in the Jedi battles in the fiction when I’m reading it and the way they sort of trade statments back and forth when they are fighting to try to intimidate (Sith) or to set straight (Jedi). What I realize is that they are using the power of the spoken word to try to influence thought. Sort of like in a baseball team when you say “hey, batta, batta, batta!” when the opposing team is up to bat. But I think it’s a really valuable tool to have to understand how the conscious and subconscious mind work together and how we can correct old ways of thought – unlearn what we have learned. I’m really enjoying this book.
