I’m so glad to see so many interesting responses posted.  I was afraid that no one would reply.  You all had some interesting things to say, so let’s see what  I can comment on…hehehe

However, I choose to think that I am still indeed using my emotions, for I could not use my abilities of empathy without them, I just seperate myself from those attachments when doing the work that I am often times asked to do. I see both sides of the argument without any bias or judgement, and then offer my humble advice. We must I think live in a symbiotic state with our emotions, for as humans, we can not just discard them, and as Jedi, we must learn to use them without letting them take over the core of who we are. Nairys, I thought this was interesting.  Your first sentence has me thinking about how one must always have emotions to truly empathize with others.  There is no other way to really relate to others unless we have truely felt some sort of similar emotion.  I think what Jedi Lawhead also said earlier is prevelant here as well.  Emotions are just a show of heightened attachment(well somewhat of what he was saying anyways ;) )  So we must learn to dettach, which is good, and see things from both sides of the coin, which emotions can often prevent from happening.  And  I completly agree with your last statement about Jedi needing emotions to communicate with the world around them.

Asta, there wasn’t a paritcular quote, but just everything you said.  I think you are 100% right.  One thing, personally anyways, that  I have a pet peeve about it LABELS.  I mean we must be able to describe things, but when we take those descriptions as the finite, objects or whatever we are labelling becomes less mysterious, and therefore we feel less connected.  What this has to do with emotions I think…well I’m honestly not quite sure.  I’m guessing that when we become too attached to things through our emotions, then we lose the peace of really discovering whats around us.

But, it also lacks the flow of the Force. Sure the little atoms and whatnot (feel free to add in subatomic terminology here, jax ;) ) are still vibrating with the Force, but not to the point where we acknowledge the life-giving presence of the Force.

LOL, I’m sure Jax has someway of describing it.  My best guess would be(in ficticious setting) the midiclorines(sp).  In real life though, there really is no name, well I mean we label things through science, but really when we get down to it, its how we percieve it as a person(remember I really don’t care for label’s ;) well in this sense at least)
