energy is light, but is the “light side” necessarily that light? is the “dark side” opposed to that light? or are they both just that light as a whole?
i think that’s one place where the jedi in the movies went wrong. they confused the light side with the light of the force. as if those who did things of the dark side were necessarily opposed to the light of the force.
to me the dark side is much more complex than some think…
of course there’s the fear, anger, hatred, aggression aspect. of course destruction and death are considered to be of the dark side. taking. hiding (including deception). pain. selfishness. etc. perhaps many more.
many of these things are not necessarily bad in themselves, though they tend to have baggage associated with them. i think it’s what you do with it, your intention. they may be dark, but are they necessarily bad? destruction is of the dark side, but in order to build a home there is much destruction needed. clearing the land. crushing the rocks to create cement. cutting down trees and milling the wood. etc etc. but of course we wouldn’t think there was anything inherently bad about these things.
the one thing that helps me in thinking about aspects of the dark side is thinking about the dark side of the day, night. what are some aspects of night? what are some pros about nighttime as opposed to day time? is it necessarily bad? or does it just have its own benefits that the day side simply doesn’t provide as well or at all? night time isn’t a bad time, it’s actually a part of the natural cycle. we just have to be in tune with it.
