Kol Drake created the topic: The Purpose of Life

Chapter 2, page 16 --

"This is the purpose of life, is it not? To create life is the greatest act a living creature can commit." The solemnity and truth hit me hard. "That's true but, ..."

True, Corran is thinking about his promise to his missing wife and all that but, it is interesting that this is considered 'the purpose'. Not sure if the author was thinking 'go forth and multiple' (or long addition for those mathematically challenged). But, is it not in our best interest (Jedi or not) to also be 'purposed' to make the now and future better for coming generations? So that created life has better opportunities to explore and grow?

Chapter 2, page 20 -

Almost another addendum to the topic, as Corran sits and sees a mother and her little child --

People could create and destroy, but, the laugh seemed to suggest, anyone who thought destruction was more powerful than creation was a fool.

Laughter amid the ruins of the capitol city.
'Life (and hope) springs eternal'.
And how more so illustrated by the joy of an 'unencumbered' child?

And even a bit further on page 20 --

Mirax has been right all along, and Ooryl, too. If we live for the present and in the present, we short-change the future. Living for the future is necessary if we are to have any sort of future at all.

mmmm
Wonder if that is how 'this generation' got into the situation it's in now in the U.S.? Thinking of only the 'Now' and only what will satisfy them now (wall street ripoffs, politicians in the game for their own gains and not representing the people, go for immediate profits instead of long term growth and prosperity...). Does give one pause.

Makes one what to kick a certain part of people's anatomy. People need homes, ok, there are many empty buildings that could be changed into homes. Build SMALLER homes. You do not need a McMansion, sigh. Or build underground and have your farm be your roof.
People need things, ok, I get that, but, you do not need new things every week. Hmm, except cat food, your cat's need food on a daily bases.
