Beautiful day out today so why run on a treadmill? Also, if I need to relieve myself of some flem or mucous, then I won't be bothering other folks.

Workout 30 min
  • Stretch 5 min
  • Light jog on a paved trail with moderate inclines and declines 20 min
  • Cool Down Stretch 5 min

Training 75 min
  • Reading Intro Course Manual 5 min (just reviewing some info)
  • Completing Course Work 70 min (went over my time constraint so I could complete the first part of 'Why Jedi' uninterupted)

Course Work
'Why Jedi'

Completed Part 1: Discovering the Path in an essay format answering all four questions throughly. I will post it in the appropriate forum.

I had some sleep issues which caused me to get up late and miss my workout time. Maybe I can fit in a quick workout this evening, but I doubt it.

Out of curiosity, do you have any particular goals for fitness, or is it general fitness?

I have a few fitness goals.

First, I need to be in "soccer referee" shape, so I can referee soccer games. Coming out of the winter, I usually don't pack on weight but my lungs get out of shape easy. The jogging builds that up well to get me back on the field. Once on the field, the lungs come back quick, but I don't want to look like a dope during those first few games. And I already have 4 games scheduled for the 17th.

Second, my job calls for me to be in good physical shape in case of emergency (which could require lifting, running, obstacles, you name it). My upper body always needs work in this area. Since I hadn't been lifting, my muscle definition and limits are weak.

Third, I have a bet with my wife over me developing a 6-pack and her losing weight. Of course, I may need focus on my abdominals better to win this, but I feel I have plenty of time to win it. We've had this bet going for a few years now. I'd rather keep dragging it out to encourage her to keep working on it.

Lastly, I'd like to get back into "rugby shape" so I can play rugby for a couple more years. I'm 31 and my body is pretty beaten, but I'm not ready to hang up the cleats for good. My end goal with sports (whether rugby, football, or soccer) has always been coaching, but the best coaches are players in my opinion. I haven't played since 2009 and haven't coached since 2006. So I'd like to begin my coaching career in my new locale while being a player.

I like those goals. Personally I prefer goals with a practical purpose. Good luck with it! I plan to go out tonight and run. Starting from scratch practically, but that's ok. :-)
