... Do you have experience in SCA?

Some LARP and SCA... though it was more then 20 years ago. I did not do much fighting but more crafting -- working with leather, sewing, and making chain. Another lifetime ago in a galaxy... a few states away.

Making chain! I have been looking into scale mail kits. I am thinking of tempered high carbon steel or titanium. It would be perfect for fencing.

I am trying to re-learn the Tai Chi sword form from a video. Luckily, I learned it in person and now it is more of a refresher. I can't imagine trying to learn anything Tai Chi related from just a video.

I agree. Videos are helpful when you know what you are doing, but from scratch it's better to have a teacher in person.

I fully agree on that! I always found it hard to use “media” in the widest of meaning to learn something “physical” from. But as an “external” memory they are good and useful, aren’t they!?

By the way, what do You, Taijibum, think about Wudang Pai, is this any good? I might have a chance to visit a group which does outdoor training three times a week including Saturday in a park not too far from my apartment.

Huh, I have no idea what Wudang Pai is. Sorry about that. I also found a group that practices in a park near me. Unfortunately its summer only and they practice further away in the winter. When I had a job it would be easy to go, but now I am a poor full-time student and can't really afford the gas.

About Wudang Pai, as far as I could figure it out, it might be a kind of cover term for all the inner arts taught in the Wudang area. The Wudang area should be, as far as I know it, one of the roots/origins where Tai Chi Chuan aroused from.

Anyway, here I do have the link form this group.

Unfortunately the top/main page is only available in German, but all further links on the left hand side are then in English. Just in case You want to glance through them!?
