When it rains, it pours! I got free lessons from my Iaido instructor and I just went to my first SCA practice. I love the medieval sword fighting. Thats free too and 3 times a week if I want... and I want! It has some of the same principles as Tai Chi, so I should be good.

Oh, I ran 3 miles today.

Was it real training or two hours of learning how to grip/hold the sword?

And, more importantly, how are the arm. shoulder, wrists after all that?

Grip/hold and striking the targets on a dummy. That's real training. It wasn't fight training. I shopped for a dummy yesterday and found a $100 standing bag that will fit in my office. I like to practice drills and track my improvement.

Yes, I am very sore. After practice it was hard to type. Only my hands are sore and my lats. I have pretty good full body coordination so my arms and shoulders don't bear the brunt of swinging the faux sword.

Do you have experience in SCA?

Set up a free standing bag for sword practice today. I am also getting sick of the arrogance of some of the people in the Jedi community. Not here, but on some of the Facebook groups.

There's a reason I avoid the facebook groups. Saves my sanity. ;-)

Unfortunately, the ones I find the most irritating are the ones most similar to me.

3 mile runs yesterday and today, plus rapier practice. Practicing blocking while keeping your point on target is actually pretty hard.
