Another 3 mile run and I am looking at making a Jedi uniform. The toughest part are the boots. I have a dream of running an ultra in a Jedi uniform and a stuffed Yoda in my water pack. I need running boots and I have found some ugly Nike ones, but I might have to have some custom ones made.

There are some 'combat running boots' used by the Seals, etc. if you are really pushing for boot boots.

If not, you could 'cheat' a little and get a good running shoe and make 'spats' which simulate the look you are going for.

Then again, if you are looking for 'authentic look' there is this place

Motor Cowboy Replica Boots

which specializes in making boots from the Star Wars movies as well as Terminator, Batman, the Matrix, Superman, Firefly (Mal's boots), etc. -- though I am uncertain as to how good they might be for jogging/running... but standing still they look killer.

6 miles yesterday and 3 miles today. Just started looking into SCA. I tried fencing, kendo, iaido and a couple other sword arts, but they just dont feel right. Maybe the Society of Creative Anachronism is what I want.

SCA has some neat things. Some branches can be rather... um... to be rather blunt... anal about having hand made, all natural clothing, etc. While other branches don't mind a bit. There is an SCA 'style' of fighting as well as some who teach 'real medieval techniques'... so you might have to shop around.

Another place that either has good training/teachers or are trained by them -- re-enactment 'villages'. Places that have a spring or summer or fall 'season' where the place is nearly an actual Renn Faire village. They tend to have wandering troupes come in to do stage productions or full blown jousts in armour and horseback. THOSE guys are usually trained by top fighters who study and/or trained in the "real deal". Might check out this website -- they not only sell clothing and armour but have a newsletter which highlights medieval/renn history, events and usually a list of 'coming fairs' across the US.

3 miles today. Drinking a lot of water and ate some beets to try and flush the excess salt out of my body.
