Is this REAL or just my IMAGINATION?
Kol Drake created the topic: Is this REAL or just my IMAGINATION?
I am cutting and pasting from were Hilda Cain/Shadowdragon and I were discussing ideas and practices over in "Esoteric/Working With the Force -- WWTF #2A - The Next Connection" (Grokking stuff).
The question came up...
Hilda Cain wrote: How do you know when you are doing it and when it is your imagine? This has been a question that has plagued me for years, I THINK something is happening, but, how do I know? I know when I call on chi, there is tingling, but, grokking is different.

“Tell me one last thing," said Harry.
"Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?"
Professor Dumbledore replied, "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
This is a question we get sooner or later from just about everyone developing their energy skills or basic chi exercises or dream work or... just about every aspect of 'exploration'.
I can probably grab a dozen or more articles from pop psychology websites which talk about sensory input versus active attention -- all kinds of analysis on how deja vu isn't deja vu but some form of memory loop or burp -- or 'just' our mind trying to 'make sense' of something it can't easily put into the proper cubby so it grasps at 'aliens' or 'gods' or psychic abilities, etc. I can also grab a few dozen articles in modern physics that talk all about the observer helping to shape/mold/create the reality one is observing.
You've got to remember that SCIENCE tends to think of what they can explain as 'white magic'... er.... GOOD SCIENCE and logic and anything that tends to verge on the 'foggy grey mists of .... we don't know' (and no one will pay us to delve into that so... leave it alone-ness) is 'bad' or 'not worth the effort' or 'bunkum'. Science can be as blinkered as a race horse at times.
These days, with a civilization mostly based on numbers, logic, and sensible decisions, we rely heavily on our left brains. We look to balance things out, make sense of things, get the numbers right, do things that make financial sense, and seek evidence in what is tangible, what can be recorded and measured. Proof, basically. We look for proof. SCIENCE, baby!
The intuition, the voice of the Self and the voice of Spirit, however, works primarily in your right brain hemisphere. This is the side of your brain that also focuses on imagination, creativity, and dreaming. That right side / intuitive mind (the seat of the third eye) is centered in the part of the brain that also houses imagination. Whether we are talking day dreaming and wishful thinking or great psychic information, this type of information and knowledge tends to be devalued in our modern society. Going by interpreting dreams and hunches alone is something that scares a lot of people, and many feel like it is not best to make decisions based on your dreams alone. Based on your heart alone. Based on what you feel. When actually, developing your intuition through dreaming, whether we are talking day dreaming or night dreaming - dreaming really is one of the best ways to stimulate and develop the real intuitive mind. It promotes intuitive exploration with little work on your part, after all!
And, much as SCIENCE (and some religions) hate to admit it -- you can find many biographies of award winning business types and 'pillars of industry' who made their most important decisions based on dreams, or gut feelings or 'a hunch'. So much for getting that PhD in Economics and Management!

You can work on improving your 'right side' brain function by stimulating the 'imagination center' and journaling your results. Results help nail down the concepts and show you how you can move forward.
So often we use the left brain to manage decisions and rationales, that our right brain, gets very little attention in day to day life, so when it speaks up, we ask, are you even real? Where have you been? Are not you just my imagination? How do you know if your intuitive mind is for real or if it is just wishful thinking? There is only one way, and it's called Trust. Beginning to trust yourself and your intuition takes time, practice and a little bit of patience - but it can be done!
1. start believing in yourself
You are the only one who has ever lived your life in your shoes. With this credential, you are THE expert in you – in your own life. There is no one else more specialized or qualified than you to know what is best for you, decide what makes you feel good, what makes you feel bad, what hurts your feelings, and what doesn’t. You know when your desires and beliefs are being stepped on and you know when you are standing your ground and stepping forward. You know all of your history, and you know intricately the details of your present. You are a specialist. And a real good one. As you should be, given all that experience you have to show for it.
2. gather some reference points
In order to know whether your intuition is real, helpful, and works as it should – you need to test drive it. Before you give up on intuition or energy sensing or...., give it a test drive, find out what your strongest abilities are, see if it improves your life and does, in fact, make it more reliable and convenient. Try out a bunch of different intuitive practices, techniques, and methods of receiving guidance. This way, you can become an expert. . .
And, of course, the IJRS mantra...
3. journal of ‘all the times i was right’
Write it all down and keep a record of your hits! Forget the misses.
This starts off like learning to shoot a bow and arrow. You are going to shoot a lot of arrows at 'the target' over time. At first, more miss all together but those that hit the target are noteworthy. Once you can get the entire quiver ON the target... then you start pushing yourself to make bullseyes. THOSE are noteworthy. Then, when you are hitting the center more times than not... you are not asking yourself if you can shoot.... you are asking yourself what new targets or distances you can shoot for!
This is called validation journaling, and you need one. Get yourself a notebook, and begin to write things down. Write down your dreams, write down your hunches, write down that time you thought to call someone and two seconds later, they called you. Write it all down. If you are anything like I think you are, you’ll have something to put in that journal at least every other day, so keep it close and with you, and a pen nearby. Start backlogging things too – times in the past when you thought something would turn out a certain way, and then you found out later it did – or that time you didn’t trust a sleaze at the bars, and turns out, he was a sleaze after-all. Write ALL of this down.
As you move through your journey, you’ll begin to see how RIGHT on target you really are. Your work has value. And, you’ll have a record to prove it. And you will be leaving doubt behind KNOWING that what you do works for you.

Hilda Cain / Shadowdragon wrote: Thank you! The times I did not follow my intuition are the times that I got into trouble. When I do things tend to go more smoothly. I started a journal last night and filled a page. LOL, I tend to go with what I feel, not, always what my sense.
I will follow your suggestions and we have gotten so far away from our intuition that it scares me, sometimes. Thank you! You have given me hope and a new way to look at things.
