ok here's some info about me.:
I'm 41 (don't look or sound it though), I live in (and have all my life) Massachusetts USA.
I'm visually challenged from birth (pretty nearsighted in one eye, had cataract surgery in my right eye
just over two years ago and since then can see to read small print again with reading glasses,
I also have open angle glaucoma in my right eye
which is treated with drops to prevent further vision loss.
I can't see at all in my left eye due to a detached retina 1980, surgery attempted twice then failed,
I also have a cataract and angle closure glaucoma in my left eye.)
I found the jedi sites online I think sometime in 2000
but have considered myself a jedi (training off and on, offline) since 1982.
A couple years ago (I think) I found the jrc, joined, started participating in discussions there.
Last year I found other Massachusetts jedi and asked them
if they'd be interested in meeting and starting a chapter.
There was interest, so we began having meetings starting in the late fall.
Currently our group doesn't have an official status as a chapter
we don't have an official chapter leader and haven't quite met
the other requirements to be an official chapter.
But that's ok: we'll probably stay as we are,
we're still meeting whenever more than two members can make a meeting.
Not too long ago with my online classes and a nice new mentor at the Jedi Academy at moodle,
I've defined and listed some wishes and dreams that I've had for some time,
(basically since the first time I visited the place, which was sometime between 5 and 10 years ago.
I can't recall exactly when, but I know it was more than 5 years ago, cause that is when I was diagnosed with glaucoma in my right eye at end of the year-dec or the beginning of the next year-jan and had mentioned this to my family including those out in the southwest,
one of my brother in laws there, offered to fly me out for another visit there
(this was winter/spring 2002 and my family here and there,
because of september 11th had to talk me into flying out there
(when I was saying that I wanted to take a bus out there),
which they did, and I went but was anxious pretty much the whole time on the plane.
it was the first time flying for me since september 11th.
and the first time I'd visited there was at least a year or two
or more before that so I know it was sometime between 5 and 10 years ago.)
I've decided to make them real goals and work toward making them a reality someday soon.
These include living in the southwest (Arizona or Texas) during the cool and cold weather months,
and here in Massachusetts (Andover) during the warm and hot weather months.
Untill just the last couple weeks, I'd had no (real) clue how to begin
to make this wish, dream a real goal or how to go about making it a reality someday.
But I have a couple of ideas now, which I'll be working at this year
and early next year, so that hopefully next fall (2008) I can be there during the school year.
Which there starts in August and ends in May even for elementary, middle,
and high school as well as colleges.
ok well I guess that's it for now.

I'm home from cape cod.
there was a used bookstore in chatham ma.
I stopped in and asked if they had any used copies of the way of the peaceful warrior book
and they had one for less than 10.00, so I bought it. so now I have the book.
just letting you know.
I've started reading the intro too.
I still have some work to do for discussion 1 along with
other various moodle jedi academy class stuff to catch up on.
hopefully I'll have discussion 1 post done within a week or so.
