Thank you for sharing these. I had read the Rob Bell article because when I still considered myself a Christian, Rob Bell was one of the big-time church figures that spoke what I needed to hear:

The central message of “Love Wins” is that the church needs to stop scaring people away, and, in publishing the book, Bell hoped to spark a movement toward a more congenial, less punitive form of Christianity.

The reaction against his progressive teachings has a lot to do with my use of "when I still considered myself a Christian" above, though it's far from the only reason.
