Jax created the topic: Captain Phasma book excerpt

This came in my email today. Haven't had a chance to read it though.

Interesting. We don't learn too much about Phasma from this excerpt. I am not a fan of this writing style. But, I am probably correct it is intended for younger readers, so I get why it's so "tell" and not "show".

Something interested to be gleaned is that the First Order is meant to "bring peace to the galaxy".

That would be an interesting discussion to have at some point. When Jedi are peacekeepers, are we meant to engage in order to secure peace? Or, are we merely meant to defend the peace that already exists? Because, heroes with good intentions can often become villains by going too far.

Yes the writing quality went way down with disney. They read like middle school level books.

I am not sure we can effectively speak of hypothetical peace. Instead we can look at a bunch of individual situations and start to come up with responses and qualifiers.

I would agree about the decline in 'book writing quality' since Disney took over.
I have read 5... 6? books since the change over and they have been so-so imo. I think "Tarkin" has been the best of the bunch so far. Not sure that's saying much though.

Have you read the new Thrawn yet? That's been my favorite so far.

I understand what you're saying about hypothetical peace. I would imagine developing a really good awareness around compassion and empathy would help in this situation.

I am thinking that we should have a live discussion about peace before we do the peace meditation.

The Sith (Palpaltine and Plagueis particularly) also wanted to bring peace to the galaxy.

The Rebel Alliance was a terrorist organization to the Empire.

Exactly. It's an important reminder that the approach is more important than the goal.
