They sure went out of their way to make Rey reminiscent of Leia and Padme, especially in the costuming, that's for sure. But the hints to her backstory they've given make me doubt that she's Leia's daughter. Luke's, maybe.

BB-8 droid -- movie version of the 'toy' (how can anything priced at $129 be a toy?) -- a sphere which can be controlled using a controller or your cellphone. The website for Sphero shows an image of what is inside the ball to make it roll and go -- simple mechanics and electronics.

I keep wondering how they keep the 'head' of BB-8 from slipping off -- unless they used magnetics... which would be tough since the fields would mess up the electronics portion. Other 'alternative' would be to have some form of gyroscopic unit which helps keep it from going more than X degrees from center so it never reaches the 'tipping point' / slide off angle. Perhaps it will all come to light once the movie comes out in December. Interesting engineering/electronics 'toy'.

Who said it was Luke's daughter? Perhaps it's Leia and Han's daughter -- since the 'new criteria' for the films/history is that only the movies, the clone war & rebels cartoons are 'canon' now. Or, maybe Luke got a little wild celebrating after that last death star was destroyed.... you always hear rumors about the Ewok celebration 'juice'.

Its unlikely there is any family relations, considering how rumors point to Luke being kidnapped. I hope its the start of the new Jedi order :-)

Nitpicking time...

Anyone else notice the subtle wording of the Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill's) voice over in the trailer?

Luke Skywalker in voiceover, saying, “The Force is strong in my family.”

“My father has it,” Luke says, as we see a charred-out Darth Vader helmet.

“I have it,” intones Luke, “My sister has it. You have that power, too.”

My father HAS it...

We all saw the burning funeral fire at the end of episode VI -- and the Darth suit going up in flames and the later 'Force ghost' of Obi Wan, Yoda and Anakin (original Ani or post photoshopped Hayden Christensen version). Plus we see the mangled and semi melted Darth helmut. HAS???

Wonder if "You have that power, too" is another branch of the Skywalker family or he's just saying, you've got what I've got... Force greeblies in your cells.
