Welcome to the Academy.  Our mission is to provide quality online Jedi training, aiding Jedi on their path by creating a foundation from which to improve their life and follow their individual paths.

New Students

Your very first step is to create an account with the Institute.  Your logon throughout the website will be the same, including the Academy areas.  Once you have an account we need a student application form from you.  This allows us to have some basic information about you that is only used internal to the site to have a brief introduction to you.  The application form is found here.  Note, when you submit this form there won’t be any confirmation that it was sent.  If you haven’t received a response regarding your application in a few days then feel free to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to make sure it was received.  Once we have your application form you’re ready to begin the introductory course.

Returning Students

If you trained with any previous version of this Academy (whether from the days of JEDI.org or more recent), welcome back!  Depending on when you trained you’ll see most courses are different from their original versions to improve the training value.  Let us know what courses you passed previously and we’ll discuss what credits you maintain.  Whatever your situation we do require every student to complete the introductory course before continuing on with full courses.

Introductory Course

The Introductory (or Intro) Course serves a dual purpose.  First, it helps you as a student understand how the Academy works, what is expected of you as a student and as a Jedi.  Second, it provides a brief introduction to the main areas of the Jedi path and a few exercises that help us get to know you.  To begin, download the course workbook which is a PDF file which contains everything you need to complete the course.  You work at your own pace which allows you to see just how much time you are able to devote to the online aspect of your training.  Faculty members will monitor your training journal and provide feedback as required.  Once the Intro Course has been completed you can choose which courses you want to work through next.

Training Overview

In the past we offered classes on a term schedule which limited training opportunities to those whose schedules happened to line up with the schedule.  To increase flexibility and improve the experience for students and faculty, the terms have been scrapped.

Once you have completed the Intro Course, you will be able to begin working on classes whenever you are ready and they are available to download.  You will work through the same material as every other student, but at your own pace.  Each class has a faculty member assigned to work with you through the material.  You can think of it as more of a mentoring situation, with interaction occurring primarily in your training journal.  Some courses also include discussion prompts which occur on the forum.
If you find you are not able to participate often you will need to contact the instructor in your current course so they know to grade your homework.  If for some reason you can’t reach the instructor you can also post in the Guidance Counselor’s office to receive a response quickly.

Teaching

For those with experience in an area with an interest in teaching, contact Jax.  Be sure to state what you are interested in teaching so we can discuss whether it's a good fit for you and the Academy.  Be aware that many classes need to be developed from scratch but we can provide guidance for this process.
